“My spirit is scenic. I encourage you to take the long way when getting to know me.”
– Alex Elle
Hello! My name is Celeste Amber Black.
I was born in June 2003! I grew up mostly in Manassas Park, VA, but moved around a few times growing up. I’m biracial, Guatemalan on my mom’s side and African American on my father’s side. I am a recent graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor’s in Theatre.
During my time at university, I concentrated in theatre studies (playwriting, dramaturgy, and directing) and performance. I performed in numerous productions and even wrote some of my own works (One of which was produced in Fall 2024)!
I fell in love with the beauty of theatre when I was in my first show in middle school, The Wizard of Oz, as Auntie Em. I was the only 8th grader in the cast, so it took a lot of growing and bravery to meet everyone else in this new medium. I was mostly involved only in sports like basketball and track, but I decided to stick with theatre once I got to high school. When I got to high school, my first show was In The Heights, and I landed the U/S for Abuela Claudia + Ensemble. This show is really what ignited my love for theatre and made me think about pursuing it after high school.
My favorite hobbies are drawing, painting, songwriting, playing video games, cloud watching, and reading poetry! I’m a big stuffed animal lover and have an endless collection that appears to keep growing bigger as the years go by. If you’re wondering…my favorite animal (and stuffie) is a bunny! I often say that’s my spirit animal when asked.
Some Fun Facts About Me:
- I was named after an actress on the show “Days of Our Lives” (Thanks, Dad)
- My name in Spanish means “Sky Blue” (Sky Blue also happens to be my favorite color!)
- My whole name, first, middle, and last, are colors! 🙂
